Why do we learn Psychology?
Psychology helps students understand how and why people think, feel, and behave as they do. It explores what shapes people’s perception, memory, learning, and emotion, and examines the factors that influence behaviour in individuals and groups. By studying Psychology, students gain a deeper understanding of the scientific study of the mind and the methods used to study human behaviour.

Our approach
Students begin by studying key topics such as social influence, memory, and attachment, building a foundation in core psychological ideas. They then explore approaches and research methods, learning how evidence is gathered, analysed, and evaluated. In their final year, students study a range of applied topics such as schizophrenia, gender, and aggression, linking theory to real-world behaviour.
Teaching focuses on clear explanation of psychological concepts, systematic study of research, and regular practice in extended writing. Students learn to apply theoretical ideas accurately, interpret data with care, and write well-reasoned arguments grounded in evidence.
