Soane Parents' Association

The SPA committee is made up of parent volunteers who are keen to get more involved and to give something extra back to the school community. The committee is made up of 2 Chairs, 2 Secretaries and 2 Treasurers with vacancies for the second committee member in all the roles.

Ark Soane is a new, highly academic, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school which opened in Acton in September 2021. The school is committed to giving our children an outstanding education, rich in music, arts, sports and external visits. SPA will help the school by raising additional funds throughout the year that will allow our children to have experiences they would not otherwise have and will help to build a stronger sense of community around the school to support all our children to make exceptional progress.

We aspire to holding several events each year, big and small, for the children and for our parents/carers. We aim to raise much-needed funds for our school, to enrich our children's education further, but also to foster community. To that end, some events are simply social, intended wholly for parents, carers, governors and staff to mingle in an informal setting.

Our first project was to enrich the school library through a book drop, which was highly successful. We are now hoping for a Soane School Uniform drop to organise a 2nd Hand Sale - both to support families who may be struggling with the cost of purchasing new uniforms and to raise funds for school musical instruments, further book purchases that the school requires and a mini-bus to transport students to competitions.

There are lots of ways to be involved with SPA, small or large! In the 2023-24 school year we are planning:

A coffee morning in January

A social evening in February

A quiz with dinner on the school premises in April - we will need lots of help and active parents and carers to do this. We will need people to

• Lead and organise the quiz
• Advertise
• Compère and prepare the quiz questions
• Decorate the premises
• Organise online ticket sales
• Secure awards/prizes
• Organise catering

A cultural Event - 4th July 2024 - we will need lots of help and active parents and carers to help organise this event. Details will be shared in due course

Library Book Donations

Thank you for all your book donations so far. We also raised £360 with which we bought approximately 80 books, a mixture of school request and our own initiative. 

Library is looking much fuller already. Still lots of empty shelves though so please keep on dropping suitable books to the school reception.
