Dear Parents and Carers
It has been a huge pleasure to welcome all pupils back this week. Almost all pupils started back this week in perfect uniform, with all their equipment and having prepared themselves for the return with good sleep routines. Thank you to parents for all your support in making this the strongest start yet.
The vast majority of our pupils come to and from school on foot, bicycle or public transport. If you are driving please do not enter Woodlands Avenue (the small road at the side of Chaiwala) as this endangers our pupils and there is no space to turn around. Please arrange to meet on one of the surrounding streets or at the Morrisons Car Park.
We look forward to seeing many parents at events this week:
On Wednesday we will host a GCSE Information Evening for our Y10 Parents. Almost all of our parents have responded to say they will attend this unmissable session to guide you through the next two years.
On Thursday we will host a meet the Tutor Evening for our Y7 Parents. This is a chance for you to meet those who act as parents to your children during the school day and to hear more about how your children are settling in.
A reminder that school is closed for INSET on Friday.
Further dates for your diaries:
1/10: Y11 Guidance Evening
8/10: Y9 Meet the Tutor Evening
16/10: School closed for INSET
22/10: Sixth Form Information Evening
23/10: Last Day of Half Term
Enjoy the remainder of the weekend.
Mr Neuberger
This Week's Highlights
It has been a stunning start to the 2026-2027 school year here at Ark Soane! From the joy of our new Year 7 arrivals to the focus and passion of our returning students, and the opening of the new Sixth Form, there has been plenty to celebrate already.
Highlights from this week include first days for fresh and returning faces!

New experiences for our Year 12 cohort, including coffee breaks in the yard. They are taking to the new surroundings of the Sixth Form building like ducks to water.

There was no slacking over the summer break either! See Ms Richards here with some incredible Year 11 artwork...

Peri music lessons
All Y7-10 pupils gave preferences for music instrument lessons last week. Your child will receive a letter if they expressed interest in taking up or continuing a musical instrument. Learning a musical instrument is proven to support children's academic outcomes as well as their overall development. Nearly all of our top achievers at GCSE played a musical instrument. We strongly encourage as many pupils as possible to take up a musical instrument.
Please note that there are charges for instrumental lessons, but trial places are available for those starting for the first time. If your child has any questions, they can speak to their music teacher or form tutor.
Uniform Donations Needed ♻️ Soane Parent's Association
The Soane Parent's Association (SPA) are collecting clean, good-quality second-hand school uniform for our upcoming uniform sale on Thursday 17 September.
If your child has outgrown any uniform over the summer, we would be very grateful for your donations.
📍 Please drop off as soon as possible, ideally this week:
Parents: School Reception
Pupils: Student Entrance
Thank you for supporting our school community. 💙
PE Wall of Fame
The PE department are aiming to recognise students who perform high level sport outside of school by displaying them on our “wall of fame” in the PE corridor. Please email any images and short description to g.chippendale@arksoane.org if you would like your child to be recognised!
