Dear Parents and Carers
It was a real pleasure for all tutors of pupils in years 7-9 to meet with parents on Friday and for teachers of year 10 to meet with parents on Thursday. We know that pupils only succeed when messaging from school and home is tightly aligned. Our pupils are doing great things so please do celebrate their successes with them.
Gum: Chewing gum is not permitted at school. The school has to spend significant amounts of money - that could be put to better use - getting carpets and external areas professionally cleaned due to pupils bringing gum into school. Any gum found will be confiscated and pupils will receive a reflection. I would be grateful for your support in reiterating this message with your child and ensuring they do not bring gum into school.
Family dining: Family dining is as much a part of the Soane Curriculum as English, maths and science. Pupils learn to look after each other, talk to a variety of peers and adults, discuss things beyond the normal curriculum and practice public speaking. The cost to the school of this provision is around £6 per pupil and is heavily subsidised for parents. Non-payment of lunch fees means the school is unable to support those most in need. If you are struggling to keep up with payments then please contact the school office to arrange a payment plan.
Future dates for your diaries:
Thursday 5th Feb - Y11 mocks start
Thursday 12th Feb - Shakespeare in Schools performance
Friday 13th Feb - INSET
16-20th Feb - half term
Enjoy the remainder of the weekend,
Mr Neuberger
This Week's Highlights
Year 9 had the enormous privilege this week of visiting Oxford University. They received talks by college staff and current students, campus tours, as well as academic workshops in English, History and Science. We hope this huge opportunity has ignited the spark for many of our students to apply to prestigious, highly competitive universities in future. We are hugely grateful to St. John's College for their generosity in hosting us!
Notices
Vaccinations (3-in-1 teenage booster and Meningitis vaccine)
We will be offering two vaccinations to all Year 9s on Thursday 5th February 2026.
The 3-in-1 teenage booster (Td/IPV vaccine) is given to boost protection against 3 separate diseases: tetanus, diphtheria and polio. The 3-in-1 teenage booster is free on the NHS for all teenagers as part of the national immunisation programme.
It is routinely given at the same time as the MenACWY vaccine. In total, you need 5 doses of the Tetanus, Diphtheria and Polio vaccines through your childhood. This will build up and maintain your body's own immunity against these infections and protect you against the diseases.
Please see the NHS letter to parents sent home with your child next week and either consent or decline the vaccine for your child using this link:
https://nwl.schoolvaccination.uk/dtp/2025/ealing
The deadline for consent is 3rd February 2026.
Thank you for your support.
Clubs this week
The normal clubs’ timetable returns this week. You can see what clubs your child is signed up to via MCAS, as well as add them to waiting lists. Clubs run from 3:40PM-4:30PM. Students receiving reflections of any length may not attend clubs. If a later collection time has been agreed, students should remain in the reflection room to complete homework.
Soane Parent's Association Fundraising Event - December
The Soane Parent's Association (SPA) would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped to make their latest fundraising effort such a success. The bake sale and sale of donated school uniform raised £250 pounds that will support extracurricular activities and enrichment beyond that classroom. Thank you for everyone that contributed their time, or supported the sale on the day! For more information, please see the file below.
