Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you for all your support as we come to the end of a very successful term at Soane.
On Thursday we celebrated our Exhibition Evening with over 120 performers on stage. The audience were blown away by the standards of the seasoned Y11 performers and by the confident contributions of some of our newest Y7 performers. My huge thanks to all the music team and particularly to Mr Morgan, Ms Warner and Ms Walshe for organising such an impressive evening.
On Thursday we also hosted an Open Morning for current parents. It was a great pleasure to be able to show parents the consistently high quality of education and all the enrichment opportunities at Soane and to be able to have an opportunity to discuss plans for the growth of the school with parents. We will launch dates for future open mornings in the New Year.
We have a busy week ahead to celebrate the end of term:
- Thursday is Exploration Day - please read the details below for arrival and return times.
- Friday is the final day of term - pupils should be on site at the normal time and wear an optional festive jumper under their blazers. Please do encourage your child to wear a seasonal jumper and bring a donation so that we can support Shelter and so that we can get some great festive photos together. We will dismiss on Friday from 12.45.
Please ensure your child achieves 100% attendance through to the end of term. The final days are the most important for celebrating achievement and building a sense of community and belonging.
Please ensure you have made arrangements with your child to either be collected or return straight home after dismissal on the last day of term at 12.45. Many schools will be dismissing early on the final day of term so it is essential that pupils go straight home after school to ensure a safe and calm start to the holidays.
We look forward to welcoming back all pupils on Tuesday 6th January.
Happy Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Holidays.
Mr Neuberger
This Week's Highlights
This year's drive for Ealing Foodbank is showing just how much our students care for their community with generous donations going to help local families in need. Across the school this week, classrooms are filling up with food kindly donated by students and their families, thank you for all you have given so far!
Our senior boys basketball team had a great first match of the season against Drayton Manor this week. Despite a defeat in the end, the boys' practice paid off as they ran in 25 points against the opposition who had won borough and London competitions last season. Congratulations team!

Exhibition Evening – thank you!
Exhibition Evening last Thursday was a huge success! We had a packed house of family and friends supporting our young musicians. From George Ezra, Adele, to the eclectic jazz of Snarky Puppy, with much more in-between, it was a joyous night of creative expression from our students. A huge thank you to the music and art departments for the evening. Thank you also to Soane Parents’ Association for providing a fantastic bake sale and pre-loved uniform sale; we are greatly appreciative for the generosity.
Our next big performance event will be our school production – Romeo & Juliet! Watch this space for more information coming in the new year.

All students must be in full uniform on this day, except Year 10 who must arrive in PE kit. They will be unable to fully participate in activities if they do not arrive in PE kit.
Year 10 students will be using Unifrog on this day; please check with your child they can log in to their account – they use their usual school login for this at unifrog.org/sign-in.
Ealing Foodbank
Every year we encourage our students to give back to the local community by donating food to those in need. Please donate to Ealing Food bank to help people suffering in food poverty today. Every item of food donated will contribute to a meal for a family in need. Collections end Tuesday 16th December.
“Festive” Jumper Day
Students (and staff) are invited to wear a festive jumper on the final day of term, Friday 19th of December, to fundraise for Shelter UK. Please note, pupils should be in full school uniform with a festive jumper under their blazer. Students who do not want to take part must wear complete school uniform. If you would like your child/ward to take part, please allow them to bring a small donation of £1 to be made during form time. Students who do not wish to take part can also donate to Shelter.
Message from Soane Parents' Association:
A large thank you to everyone who donated uniform or bakes, gave up their time, or supported us by purchasing items on sale. We truly couldn’t have done it without you. We’re pleased to share that the overall profit from the evening was £250, which will be transferred to the school to support extracurricular activities.
We would also like to let all parents and carers know that we now have a fully functioning committee again:
Co-Chairs: Josie Gayton and Mojca Sanjenbam
Treasurer: Irena Bojanic
Secretary: Shaza Shawi
If you would like to get involved with the committee, please email soanepta@gmail.com — we would love to hear from you.
