Dear Parents and Carers
I hope you have enjoyed the long weekend and that your children are well rested and ready for the final week of the half-term.
Student council: I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting our Student Council representatives over the past week. Their feedback is universal: they know that they are getting a great education with great teachers. Every child believes their teachers care passionately about them: they clearly understand that they are held to high standards so that they can be the best version of themselves. When asked whether they would send their own children to a school like Soane in the future they all say "yes". I couldn't be prouder of the children as we inch towards half-term and I am hugely grateful to you for your support for an ambitious and aspirational education at Soane.
We will break up for half-term at 3.30pm on Friday and look forward to seeing pupils return on Tuesday 4th November by 8.25.
I wish you a great week and an enjoyable half-term.
Mr Neuberger
This Week's Highlights
Last Saturday, 20 members of staff from Ark Soane came together to run the RBC Race for the Kids to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital in memory of a former Soane pupil. The team ran (or walked) 5km and by the end of it the exhausted staff had raised £3323 for the charity! A big well done and congratulations to all who participated and all who donated. It's not too late to support: if you would like to donate then please do so here https://race.gosh.org/fundraisers/saranelder/rbc-race-for-the-kids
And the students of Ark Soane are matching their teacher's hard work. From Year 7 to Year 10, from art to science, every classroom is buzzing with productivity! We are consistently impressed by the effort put in by every student, especially so close to the end of the half term. Keep up the good work!

Parents Association AGM
This years Parents Association AGM is online next week on Thursday 23 October at 7pm. If you would like to attend the meeting please email soanepta@gmail.com and you will be sent a link.
PE "Wall of Fame"
The PE department are aiming to recognise students who perform high level sport outside of school by displaying them on our “wall of fame” in the PE corridor. Please email any images and short description to g.chippendale@arksoane.org if you would like your child to be recognised.
Coats
As colder weather arrives, a reminder that students’ coats must be plain black or navy. Coats with branding or pictures are not allowed.
Attendance
We are committed to ensuring your child achieves their full academic potential. Good attendance— between 97% and 100% is vital to this. Please ensure your child attends school every day until half term, and they return back to school after half term on Tuesday 4th November.
Medical appointments
A reminder that we ask you do not book medical appointments during the school day unless entirely unavoidable. This is to avoid your child having gaps in their understanding which can have a significant impact on their progress and achievement. If unavoidable, your child must come to school until they need to leave for the appointment and must return to school afterwards so they can be marked present for both morning and afternoon sessions, ensuring they maintain a good attendance record.
