Dear Parents and Carers
On Friday we welcomed our first large inward visit to Soane where a school took an INSET day to come and spend the day in Soane lessons and spent time talking to Soane pupils. Our visitors were overwhelmed by the politeness, engagement and enthusiasm of our pupils. I could not be prouder of how the pupils came across to our visitors, the professionalism with which they represent the school and the impact that they are continuing to have on schools up and down the country.
On Thursday we welcomed our Y11 parents to our first GCSE information evening. Many parents wanted to know what they could do to support their children's GCSE success - and, in almost every case, it was to get their children off their smartphones. So many parents of our older pupils regret allowing their children to have access to highly addictive smartphones - and we would encourage parents of children in younger years to continue to hold firm. Not only does remaining smartphone free support academic success - it also supports greater safety, better relationships and better emotional development. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c77dkk3jvvmo

This Week's Highlights
More great news from the football field this week! Ark Soane stormed the Year 7 Ark Football Championships. Shout out to the boys team who qualified through the group stages before being knocked to eventual winners Globe in the quarters. And a massive congratulations to the girls team who were fantastic, qualifying for the final with a 100% win record, unfortunately losing on penalties to Bollingbroke after a thrilling final! A massive well done to Anwar, Harutomo, Lucca, Sammy, Illiyas, Hassan, Zackariya, Kasia, Niamh, Nora, Madina, Sofia, Hanin, Aya and Nadia.
It’s been another exciting week for enrichment and clubs this week. 8 Alexander began ‘The Great Soane Bake Off’ in cooking enrichment, whilst our brand-new trampolining club (with Cass from London City Trampolining) reached new heights!

Clubs
A reminder to check the ‘Clubs & Trips’ section on MCAS to see which clubs your child has been accepted to. If your child would like to join a club, please add them to the waiting list here – we will be in touch if we have space. Please ask your PE teacher if you would like to join trampolining next week!

A reminder that students receiving reflections of any length may not attend clubs. If a later collection time has been agreed, students should remain in the reflection room to complete homework.
