Dear Parents and Carers
Between now and the end of the year we will be sharing pupils' reports with them and with you. I couldn't be prouder of their academic achievements this year as results place Soane amongst the highest performing schools in the country with pupils in every year group averaging at least a full GCSE grade higher than national expectations. We couldn't achieve this without your unwavering support and the encouragement and motivation that you continue to provide to your children.
Alongside their academic success the children are flourishing in art, music and sport. On Thursday we had the pleasure of hosting our summer concert: I was blown away by the pupils' performances and their dedication to continued practise leading to a professional and wide-ranging line up. Equally importantly, I was bowled over by the feedback of those teachers and visiting teachers who have worked with the pupils: the politeness, gratitude and respect shown by the musicians means that they are a pleasure to work with and their teachers are encouraged to go the extra mile in supporting them.
I am hugely grateful to staff for the additional activities that they have put on in these final weeks to make the end of year so special – the list is endless but stalls at the fete, running rewards trips, organising concert performances, planning trips and visits, organising sports day, camping out with pupils for Duke of Edinburgh…They have given selflessly to mark the end of Year 4. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Mr Morgan in particular for working tirelessly to hold this all together and organise it so effectively.
Normal lessons will continue through to Thursday this week when we will have an early finish at 2pm so pupils are ready for their activity and trips days on Friday, Monday and Tuesday (please see details below). As start and finish times from Thursday onwards are different from usual please ensure your child comes straight home after activities to avoid children being exposed to poor or dangerous behaviour that can result from gathering in high spirits in the local area.
Please remember that every child is legally required to attend through to the end of term. We do not want any children missing valuable curriculum time or our important community activities which will continue all the way through to dismissal at 12.45 on 23rd July. Term will start on Thursday 4th September for incoming Y7s, Monday 8th September for Y11s (Academic Review Day) and Tuesday 9th September for Y8-10. Please ensure that your child is ready and prepared for the start of term.
I hope you enjoy the remainder of the weekend.
Kind regards,
Mr Neuberger
This Week's Highlights
It was a busy penultimate full week at Soane as the students got to enjoy some of their final lessons of the year and begin looking forward to their upcoming trips.
This Thursday saw our first summer concert, with over 80 students performing music, poetry, and dance to a packed-out crowd. Well done to all students involved, and a particular thanks to Ms Walshe, Mr Smith, and Ms Warner for running such a successful event. Our next performance will be our Exhibition Evening in December – more details and pictures to come in the near future.
Both 9 Pericles and 8 Cleopatra also enjoyed some fantastic science practicals this week, where the students worked on neutralisation and calculating density.

Some of the Year 8s also got to enjoy a reward trip to Oxygen on Thursday to celebrate their success over the year. The students had a wonderful time and got to compete with their teacher as well as each other in a range of games and ativites.

Finally, the Year 10s set off on Friday for the first day of their DofE expedition. The students were well prepared with bags packed and set off full of energy and enthusiasm for what the weekend will bring.
The year 10s also got to meet with a variety of employers this week from civil servants, journalists, computer programmers, to paediatricians and more to reflect on their future pathways and the options open to them. They have been learning about the world of work through PSHE this term, and represented themselves with maturity and professionalism throughout the day.
A reminder that all Soane students have access to the Unifrog platform to research future careers and study options. Please explore this website with your child and discuss their aspirations with them.
