Dear Parents and Carers
Over the last week I have been struck by the level of ambition that we - parents, pupils and staff - have set for Ark Soane. As our founding cohort come towards the mid-point of their GCSE programme I have no doubt that they will be able to achieve some of the best results in the country - and that they will have been able to do that in a culture of exceptional warmth, respect and love. Thank you for all the support you have given to your children and to the school this term: it is enabling the pupils to achieve something extraordinary.
Eid: If your child will be absent from school on Monday 31st March please inform the school in advance at absence@arksoane.org. Please ensure that your child is back in school as normal on Tuesday 1st April.
Coffee morning: Thanks to the parents who came to join a coffee morning and school tour last week. It was a real pleasure to be able to discuss the progress of the school with parents and for parents to be able to see their children making such rapid progress in lessons. There are still some spaces available for Wednesday 2nd April at 9am. If you haven't signed up but would like to attend please email t.stafford@arksoane.org.
End of term: Friday (4th April) is our final day of term. We will host a Rewards Assembly with all pupils and they will be dismissed after lunch. A staggered dismissal will start from 12.45. All local schools will be finishing for the holidays at a similar time so please ensure your child returns straight home at 12.45 and changes out of their school uniform at the end of the day.
Please note that Tuesday 22nd April (after the Easter Bank Holiday weekend) is an INSET day and pupils will be returning to school on Wednesday 23rd April.
I hope you enjoy the remainder of the weekend and a restful Easter Holiday.
Kind regards,
Mr Neuberger
This Week's Highlights
It was the penultimate week of term, and the students have been showing great character working hard right up until the end. There was some fantastic work produced in the art department, as the year 10s have been busy producing some top tier photography pages for their Art GCSE. Below is Dilys, Naya, Sonja and Yulia's work.

The Year 7s were being similarly impressive to their art teachers, producing some incredibly accurate sketches of famous art pieces. Below are 7 Ramesses' recreations of 'The Girl with the Pearl Earring' and Van Gough's 'Sunflowers'!

There was also so much energy and joy on the MUGA this week. 10 Pericles showed up in numbers to create a full scale basketball game, and 7 Cleopatra joined forces with Mr Colenutt to see who had what it takes to be the winning team.

As the term comes to an end, it is also a great opportunity to shoutout the students completing their Duke of Edinburgh awards. From the site squad arriving early to help clean up the school, to sports volunteers helping in various sports clubs in and out of school, to the student volunteers helping with charities and local businesses in the wider community, the students have been doing themselves and the schools so proud.

Notices
Mobile phones
We strongly encourage all parents to buy a ‘brick phone’ rather than a smart phone for your child. This is to support the safety of your child online, to support their general wellbeing, and to prevent the risks of them carrying an expensive item to and from school. The academy is not liable for any loss or damage to mobile phones or any other item that students bring onto the school site. In the event of loss or damage, the academy will not refund or replace items, including phones.
Exploration Day 3rd April
On Thurs 3rd April we have Exploration Day - all students will be out on trips. A reminder of your child’s trip is below. Please note there will be a staggered start and dismissal – students must arrive for the times indicated below on this day. If they are late, they may not be able to attend their trip. The approximate end times are indicated also – the office will send texts if there are any delays returning from trips.
All students must be in full uniform on this day. They must bring their pencil case, reading book, and filled water bottle in their Soane backpack. If they carry an inhaler or autoinjector, they must bring these also. |
Clubs sign-ups - Summer term
The last day of clubs this term will be Wednesday 2nd April. They will recommence from Mon 28th Apr. Information regarding sign-ups for next term's clubs will be released before the Easter holidays. |
