Ark Soane Academy is named after Sir John Soane (1753 – 1837) a renowned architect who designed the Dulwich Picture Gallery and the Bank of England, where he worked for 45 years. Soane was the Professor of Architecture at the Royal Academy. He became a knight in 1831. Soane owned a home in Ealing, Pitzhanger Manor, 2 miles from our school site, which he designed and had rebuilt. The building remains and is now an art gallery.
